This transition not only benefits the environment but also strengthens our local economy. Let’s explore what Bioheat fuel is and why it’s the right choice for your home.

What is Bioheat Fuel?

Bioheat fuel is a blend of traditional heating oil and biodiesel. Biodiesel is a renewable energy source made from agricultural byproducts like soybean oil, recycled cooking oil, and animal fats. Because it’s produced domestically, it reduces our nation’s dependence on foreign fuel sources.

The blend is designated by the percentage of biodiesel it contains. For example, B5 is 5% biodiesel and 95% heating oil, while B20 contains 20% biodiesel. The great thing about Bioheat fuel is that it can be used in your existing heating system without any modifications. It’s a seamless transition to a cleaner, more sustainable fuel.

Advantages of Heating with Bioheat Fuel

Choosing Bioheat fuel for your home offers a range of compelling benefits that go beyond simply keeping you warm. It’s a decision that positively impacts your wallet, your heating equipment, and the environment.

• A cleaner burn: One of the most significant advantages of Bioheat® fuel is that it burns much cleaner than traditional heating oil. This means fewer emissions are released into the atmosphere, contributing to better air quality for everyone in our community. In fact, a B20 blend has lower emissions than natural gas. By choosing Bioheat® fuel, you’re actively helping to create a healthier environment for today and for future generations.
• Increased efficiency: A cleaner burn also translates to better efficiency for your heating system. Because Bioheat fuel produces fewer deposits, it helps keep your furnace or boiler running smoothly. This improved performance means your system doesn’t have to work as hard to heat your home, which can lead to lower energy consumption and reduced heating bills. It also acts as a natural solvent, cleaning your system and potentially extending its lifespan.
• Supporting the local economy: The biodiesel in Bioheat fuel is produced right here in the United States, often using crops grown by American farmers. This creates jobs and supports our agricultural sector, strengthening the local and national economy. When you choose Bioheat fuel, you’re investing in a homegrown energy solution that benefits communities across the country.
